Going From 1,000 to 100,000 WordPress Installs

This entry is part 2 of 4 in the series Building PublishPress

Looking back over the last 18 months, most of the posts on this blog have been about acquisitions. This post has a summary of them all.

I should blog more about other things, but the acquisitions have kept me busy!

Last week, we closed our biggest acquisition so far. We adopted about a dozen WordPress plugins. These fit under our “PublishPress” brand.

The main PublishPress plugin was at 1,000 installs (it’s now at 2,000). This acqusition means that the PublishPress suite of plugins now has around 100,000 installs:

  • Capability Manager Enhanced, a permissions plugin with over 70,000 active installs.
  • Revisionary, the plugin for managing, scheduling and moderating WordPress post revisions.
  • Press Permit, a very useful plugin for controlling WordPress roles and permissions. Press Permit can be enhanced with 10 premium extensions.

Our goal is to combine these plugins into a set of publishing tools that are useful to larger organizations, magazines and newspapers.

If you have a WordPress site that needs publishing workflows or more advanced permissions, then look out for those 3 purple penguins!
